Your Brakes
No matter what model vehicle you have, when you step on your brakes, they generally all work in a similar manner. Some, obviously work a little better than inferior counterparts, but it’s still the same basic idea. When you step on the brake the metal cylinder injects brake fluid through the lines to the calipers. Your calipers then press on the brake pads which press, in-turn, against the rotor. This creates friction and slows your car down significantly. If you have drum brakes, then the calipers push shoes and drums and you would slow down in that fashion instead. Most modern cars have a “power booster” that makes it so you don’t have to press as hard on your brake pedal and you don’t have to repeatedly press on your brakes if you’re driving and try to slow down in the snow.
