One of these components that more commonly experiences issues is the instrument cluster. What’s the instrument cluster? The instrument cluster is where all of your gauges sit in your dashboard and is an important part of your vehicle. If your instrument cluster is on the fritz, it may interfere with how well you can gauge your speed, your fuel level, and a plethora of other issues that are just better to not deal with. In today’s post, we are going to go into a more detail about your Audi’s instrument cluster, common maintenance issues, and what you can do to ensure that your Audi avoids these issues as much as possible.

Electricity is a Key Component to a Healthy Instrument Cluster

For the vast majority of modern Audi’s, the instrument cluster is more than just some analog gauges placed closely together to give the driver vital information. Most Audi’s are now equipped with electronics that can deliver more accurate information to the driver at a glance. While this has greatly increased the functionality of the instrument cluster, it has also made the instrument more prone to malfunction or need repairs. Below, we have listed some of the most common issues that require repairs for Audi drivers in the Chesterfield area.

  • Electrical Issues: Before you decide that your instrument panel is completely broken and that you need to bring it into Kudos Import and Performance to have it looked at, first check to make sure that the instrument cluster isn’t just suffering from a lack of electricity. For your Audi’s instrument panel to work it needs both adequate voltage and proper grounding; if, for some reason, your instrument cluster does not have these two things, it will not work. If your instrument cluster is acting up, first check to make sure that the fuse is properly placed and working and then check the continuity of the ground. If this sounds like something that is a little beyond your mechanical comfort zone, bring your Audi into Kudos Import and Performance. We will be happy to look at your Audi for you.
  • MORE Electrical Issues: If after checking the fuse and the continuity ground to ensure that they are both working properly and you are still experiencing issues, it is time to take a deeper look. If you notice that after replacing the fuse your instrument cluster begins to act up again, or the fuse blows after a few days, it may be time to bring your Audi to us. If the fuse is a recurring issue, it may indicate that the wiring harness leading to your instrument cluster is experiencing a short. This issue should be addressed immediately to prevent additional damage to your Audi’s instrument cluster.
