About Ettore Bugatti

Inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame, Ettore Bugatti was the founder of Automobiles E. Bugatti, which he started in 1909. His first attempt at designing and building an automobile, came in 1898; which he labeled the Bugatti Type 1. He was just 17 years old.

The eccentric owner was known for strict standards with not only his staff but with the owners of the unique vehicles themselves; refusing to sell to certain individuals based on his own personal proclivities. The Bugatti website states that he had once refused a sale to a customer who had personally shown up at the factory to buy a new Bugatti based on the fact that the man had come in a model of Taxi that he did not care for. Another story says he also refused to sell to a certain king because Bugatti believed him to have deplorable table manners.
